Cheers Del, I have registered and checked the forecast, SW breeze forecast, which will be helpful.

Phil said the same about the ride, I had planned to do it years ago and never, so thinking it needs ticked off

I went with Perthshire as I have done the other two or some of the other two in the past few years. That or Galloway would be great, we did Gretna two years ago, great day out.

Good luck Mark, easy on the first half and enjoy the second. The hills can kill your legs early on, but I know the work you have put in and you are prepared.

Back to the Wednesday evening spin in the dark.

The plan for this week is to take in the course for the club event next week, around the woods behind the Papermill. This is largely gravel, with a few puddles, but very flat. The course is roughly 9-10 mins of work, given the Strava times.

We will meet at Fullarton Woods Car Park at 7pm and then work our way over to the woods, ride the course backwards and then ride it the way the event will go next week.

Any off-road bike is good for this type of ride, knobbly tyres are recommended, but some riders have been riding with semi-slicks.

    Hi all

Just a quick update, we plan to meet tomorrow evening and from now on at 7pm, not 6.30pm. This may help others join the rides, given work commitments. The format will be the same and just 30 mins later.

Wednesday 1st November will be steady riding on various terrain, followed by some accelerations on grass. The weather looks OK, getting drier as we get closer to 7pm.

Any sort of off-road bike will do the job, we have had cross, gravel and MTB’s out on the rides this year.

Oh, and do not forget to charge your lights, it helps if you can see what you are riding over.

The first ride is tomorrow, Wed 4th October. Meeting at Fullarton Woods Car Park at 6.30pm.
This will be a just a ride around various areas of Troon, nothing too technical, just a chance to get used to the bike on different surfaces.
Any off road bike will do the job, cross, gravel, mtb or a road bike with knobbly tyres.

Going to start the sessions on 4th October, 6.30pm from Fullarton Woods car park, just behind Fullarton Courtyard.

This will be a general ride, a mix of everything, but a gentle spin on some sloppy stuff and grassland.

Any bike that can be taken off road will be suitable for this ride.

You are correct Mikey, Colin G has a winter catch phrase of “Oh F**k, oh f**k” as we ride through the whines and nettles.
I should have said that longs are best worn on the rides.

Callum will be amazing this year, he is a gravel racing machine now.

Any bike with wider tyres will work, I have 33’s on my cross bike and have not had any issues with riding most stuff around Troon. The wider the tyre, the harder it is to get up to speed on the grass, ask Colin G, he has done a lot on his MTB

Hi Colin, there was some interest in a velodrome session in Glasgow. Is this of interest to the club and if so, would the club provide some financial support for the session? I can do some further exploration to find out the overall costs, any support or discussion on this would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Jim
