I should have said, we are meeting at 6.30pm, but will be in and around the car park for around 45mins after this time.

A change of meeting place this week and from now on. We will be meeting at the car park in Fullarton Woods, Troon. This will allow us to use the park and wooded area for bike skill development as well as focussing in on some basic skills for cycling.

Again, any off-road bike would be suitable and everyone is welcome to come along and have a laugh.

I have a number of things on the go at the moment, I work for Kilmarnock Harriers in the evening and Glasgow Life through the day, my time is very tight to take on more roles.

I am happy to help on specific projects or assist with any paperwork stuff in relation to club development. I do this as my normal day job, so quite easy to find best practice for the club.

    Thanks

    Hi Guy
I have been looking a couple of the documents and I have a couple of suggestions in relation to some of the wording. Can I send you these?

    Minimum standards notes.
The PVG update is generally done every three years, this is best practice, although not needed, given the document is live.
Welfare officer training is two fold, one is a Safeguarding course, the other is specific to Welfare officers.

It may be worth asking about the need for some of these standards, given that the club have no junior members under 18 years.

Happy to chat this through or help where needed.

    Thanks
    Jim

More off-road fun this evening. The forecast is changeable, layer up and head out and enjoy some trails. 7pm from Gailes car park.
Last week we headed to the back of the papermill and then into Troon, some variety on the surface, with roots, mud, a little sand and plenty of grass and gravel.

The second off-road ride will take place this week, this will be a general ride over grassland and some single track. Depending on who is there, I would propose we do some cornering drills and cone of movement riding.

The ride will be any an easy pace, regrouping after any technical sections.

Any off-road bike will be appropriate for the ride.

Meeting at Gailes car park at 7pm.

I had a look for the wheel I thought I had, but no joy, I am not sure where it has gone. I have loads of tyres somewhere, I can bring one along to a ride or pass it to someone to pass to you.

Looks like a good route, I plan on being there, got a pass for the day.
I can take another three bodies, if anyone want to car share. I can take another bike, I will change the adaptor on the roof bars from through bolt to QR, if needed.

This sounds great, if my partner is working, I will head down as well. I would have three seats in the car, no room for bikes, but Sean has the van.

Weather looks good again this week.

Same rules apply, no huge groups and working as a group, to ensure we stay together. The top learning from last week is communication, letting everyone know what is happening behind, when anyone is sitting in and how many are still working through and off.

The more who turn up, the more groups we can have and cater for all abilities.

See you all down at Gailes for 7pm

I agree, the max in q group should be 8-10, after that you do not know when to come through or if the people.behind are missing a turn. The mixed ability was an issue with some.coming through and maintaining the pace, which caused gaps and big accelerations in the group.
When we split, I went in the first group and we were fine, smooth and controlled, with no issues with speed.
We also agreed that, if we got caught by the scratch group, we would stay as a group and not jump across.
Simple rules, but makes the ride more enjoyable and safer.
I hope those injured on Wednesday recover well and get back out soon.
