Peter D MclardyParticipant
Well did you two get a place ? Del did not get a place
Peter D MclardyParticipantNice one Philip, yes I believe that Keswick would be the better (and cheaper) choice. It’s only a short drive to Grassmere with no pinch points. We will be staying at Braithwaite just along the road a bit. Will keep fingers crossed you all get through. I believe you should all know by Monday 👍
Peter D MclardyParticipantGet in there Del, hopefully get through, not that I want to see you in pain………. Actually—— oh please let him through 😉😎
Peter D MclardyParticipantOk Alan, that’s four in total in the ballot, good luck.
Peter D MclardyParticipantNo worries Mikey, would have been good if you were able to make it. We have three in the ballot so hopefully they all get through. Yes it will be a fight and a struggle, the bigger the cassette the better, pacing yourself is my thought as the toughest is the last bit. Good luck with whatever you do.
Peter D MclardyParticipantI’ve also entered and chose the same charity, looks like loads of winter training ahead, let’s do this !!
Peter D MclardyParticipantYes I’m also up for this
Peter D MclardyParticipantHi Folks,
An update for your diaries. The Fred Whitton will take place on the 11th May 2025, the main ballot will start on the 2nd December and close on the 11th December. Ballot places will be announced on the 16th December. Cost for this is £99
There is a special charity entry which guarantees entry, this takes place ahead of the main ballot on Fri 1st November and costs £199. This is the route I am going on as I don’t want to take the chance with a ballot. On a side note, a few of us are are doing a recce for the Fred on the 9th Oct this year (2024) looking to sample some of the delight of the course. Meeting will be at Braithwaite, all welcome.
Peter D MclardyParticipantAlan B. Yes the lodges are very reasonable, I had checked them out but didn’t mention as the minimum was as you said. Marie and I will be there 29th Sept till 13 Oct so will be around.
Peter D MclardyParticipantSafe as hooses Del, salt of the earth up this way 😉
Peter D MclardyParticipantWas an amazing day, all the meeting stops worked well with all the different groups, some great roads and some “ how should we say” memorable ones 😂 all out safely and all back safely, Well done Del for organising and Alan B and Gordon G for leading their groups. Good to see GG back out again. A fantastic turn out. Here’s to next year 🚴🤞
Peter D MclardyParticipantI’m also happy with any of those. I would need to be home same day as away on the 2nd 👍
Peter D MclardyParticipantTotal respect on your effort mate, you will smash it, will be checking how you get on, good luck 👍
Peter D MclardyParticipantHave had a look into the entry for it and the main ballot starts on the 1st Dec and the draw on the 14th. Cost is £99. Any first time riders are given priority over those having ridden before. All first time riders are put into a first draw where 400 will be allocated a place, thereafter the remaining are put into the main draw so you have two chances of getting a place. Any teams ( up to four riders ) will be drawn as a team ie. all get a place or no one gets one. You can enter individually or as a team not both. Anyone with multiple entries will be excluded from the draw.
There is a special draw which starts on Nov 1st. This apparently guarantees entry but cost £199 with £100 going to charity. I personally am leaning towards this method of entry. Can those interested share their thoughts on preferred method of entry please. So far we have:
Peter M
Mark A
Philip M
Graeme C
Chris S
Thomas W
Craig W
Fraser B
Alan DDefinitely maybes are:
Dougie M
Mikey A
Del S unless he gets a better offer 😜Peter D MclardyParticipantPhilip there does appear to be a charity entry which guarantees inclusion, its £199 of which £100 goes to charity. Could be a option. The main ballot is in Dec so would expect this to be a little earlier.
