Michael AllenParticipantMichael AllenParticipant4 wheelers entered our local road the barmill apr,
3 riders from ayr roads,2 from burners
Lots of Johnstone Wheelers, Lomond Roads, the ivy,Glasgow green,vc South, deeside thistle, wallacehill
Group 1 off 10 am
Group 2,included Mikey and David 10.06
Group 3,Darren, Sean 10.12Usually mixed groups try and work away to stay away from group 3,or sandbag and wait for groups 3 and jump on their tail
From our Group 2,David Williams had a great ride ,and was feeling strong, and taking more than his share of turns, helping to drive the pace
Mikey on lap 2 got a puncture, no shout for the rock on the road, and the support car drove straight past
Luckily, a rider from Glasgow Green supporting her dad, past by and offered an inner tube etc
I rejoined next lap,and on lap 4,chain slipped to wee ring, and wouldn’t change up,so I stopped ,adjusted cable, and lost the bunch, and called it a day
David would continue with the splintering group 2,till caught by group 3Group 3,Darren and Sean’s group
Seemingly Darren,Sean, and ayr roads Lewis glass ,and a few others did alot of work, whilst the majority sat in
When I had my puncture on lap 2,group 3 were about 3 mins behind, so catching
Darren ,had a few attacks off the bunch,in frustration, and a small group of 4,including Sean,Darren, and Lewis got a gap,but were chased down in the headwind sections
On lap 5,and groups 1,2,@3,merged together and those who could hang on,tried
After that riders were scattered all over the roads in little bunchesThe course had 4 sharp turns ,and on the last lap, with half mile to go,the last sharp bend split the bunch
Darren and Sean finished with the main group, Sean 7th,and Darren in around 17th
There was no placing, apart from top 10
David Williams had a great ride and was happy in his first road race
54 miles covered
Group 1,on average 2.33
Group 2 on average 2.23
Group 3 on average 2.15 about 24.2 mphMany thanks to the large bunch of fwcc, who came down to cheer on their club
