Chris – no obvious campsite in Portlethen but Stonehaven is 7 miles away by the main road (but if you’re thinking of cycling it’s 10 rolling miles).

Jim, it’s worth doing even if solo (and weather ok). I was lucky to tag along with Philip and a few folk he knew, but there are so many others doing it you are bound to get in groups.

Best event I did last summer, just clashes with my tour of 🇩🇪⚽️.

Loads of room at the car park in Dalbeattie. No toilet facilities there, but public loos are along the road in the town.

When you get back on Saturday afternoon the town has plenty of places for food or drink.

Alan Broadfoot has ‘tidied up’ the routes but no major detours. All good roads apart from the one used for cattle only. But that’s ok.

And I just noticed we were going to be on a stretch of the A75 so have changed that as well from Gatehouse of Fleet.
